Railway passengers now need not wait for hours at the platform for their trains. In a bid to make passengers’ journey smooth and comfortable, Indian Railways has announced that the passengers will now get real time updates about their train. With the winters knocking at the door, train and flight services are likely to get delayed. Every winter, due to fog, flights and train services are delayed across the country. So, the Indian Railways will be alerting people when their trains are running late through SMSes. Passengers will soon be sent SMS alerts on their phones in case trains are delayed by more than an hour. This service alert travelers on everything from confirmation of berth to travel status of trains.
With this new SMS alert facility, railway passengers will be benefited. The SMS alert will be sent to all passengers in case a train is delayed by more than an hour. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted regarding this. Goyal in his tweet has also put up a video showcasing the features.

Indian Railways is gearing up to provide better facilities to passengers in the winter season. Let’s take a look at these facilities:
1) Through SMS facility, you will receive train delay information on your mobile number.
2) With this facility, the location of train, estimated time of reaching the station will be sent on passengers’ mobile number.
3) Special patrolling teams have been deployed between 11 pm and 7 am.
4) Trains have been equipped with fog safety devices which give the locomotive pilots audio-visual cues at a signal post.
In other news, union minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said the government aims to electrify the railways in gradual phases. “The entire railway network in India would be electrified in phased manner making it environment-friendly,” the minister said.
